Clarence Allen

Clarence Nelson Allen, AKA “Papa Smurf” was born on December 24, 1959 in Griffin, Georgia to the late Robert Cecil Allen and the late Daisy L. Starks Allen.  After an extended illness he departed this life on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Medical Center.

Clarence accepted Christ at an early age at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Hiseville.

Clarence was the class clown, the joy and life of the party.  He never met a stranger and he loved and enjoyed life.

Clarence had numerous job titles from farm work, restaurants, washing and detailing cars, to flea market flips.  He joined the United State Army in the late 70’s where he served his country for four years.  Clarence was… “The Jack of all Trades.”

Clarence was also preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Shacklett and Geraldine Sweatt, a nephew, Jerome Wilson; two step daughters, Janice and Celina Howard; three brothers-in-law, Carson David Kirk, Earl Brents and Wendall Sweatt; one sister-in-law Elizabeth Strode.

Clarence leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Carol Allen of Cave City; a step-son, Cortez Strode (Amanda) of Cave City; three brothers, Walter Allen of Glasgow, Gary Allen of Bowling Green and Jason Allen.  Seven sisters, Teresa Rumph, Gloria Kirk, Erica Allen, Edna Allen (Paul) all of Glasgow; Rena Allen of Bowling Green, Kaneshia Allen of Louisville and Sherry Highsmith (Cynthia) of Las Vegas, NV.  He also leaves three very special pets, Scooter, Coca and Little Bit and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Bowling Green Gardens.  Visitation will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
