Vera Spinks Floyd, 82 of Bowling Green passed peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Greenwood Nursing & Rehab.
The Warren County native was the daughter of the late Taylor and Sophia Grimes Spinks. She was the wife of the late James Albert “Jimmy” Floyd. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Iona Starkey, Ivory Spinks, Icy Smith and Ruth Gregory : four brothers, Dewy Spinks, Earl Spinks, Buel Spinks and Morris Wayne Spinks. Vera was employed by the Board of Education as a cook and she was a banker. Vera was a member of Sandhill Seventh Day Adventist Church. She served on the city council in Oakland. Vera loved gardening, cooking and travel. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Teddie Smith (Heather Hines), three grandchildren, Rachael Loder (Bryan), Khristopher Leviner and Summer, five great grandchildren, Kaleb, Kaitlyn, KJ, Piper, Miller; one great- great grandchild, Denver and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Spinks Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7p.m. Thursday and 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
