Phyllis Ann Carter

Phyllis Ann Carter, 90 of Smiths Grove passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at her residence.

The Warren County native was the daughter of the late Grider and Rena West Kemble. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Wayne Carter, a daughter Sharon Lunsford, a sister, Joyce Massey and a brother Mitchell Kemble. Phyllis was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed attending gospel singings and revivals at various churches.

Leaving to cherish her memory is her son, Mike Williams (Cheryl) and daughter, Connie Williams; four grandchildren, Chelsea Wells (Matt), Aaron Kerney (Miriam), Jack Williams and Luke Williams; three great grandchildren, Kemble Wells, Bo David Wells and Tyler Wells; two sisters, Shelby Simpson and Norma Neagle; two brothers, Roland Kemble (Marilyn) and Robert Kemble; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel with burial at Hays Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. -2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
