Martha Richey Russell

Martha Richey Russell, 89, of Bowling Green passed at her residence on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

The Barren County native was the daughter of the late John Quincy and Thelma Lynn Richey. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Pearline Richey, Judell Farmer and Ella Miller; four brothers, Charles E Richey, Johnny C. Richey, Wallace H. Richey and James Henry Richey. She was a FBI Clerk Crime Reporter for the US Federal Government. She was a member of Cecilia Memorial Presbyterian Church and attended Crossland Community Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Hamm (Ritchie) and Debra Locke; Sarah Beth Vaught (Peter), Rebecca Joy Sandlin (Paul), Leah Hardcastle (Travis), Stephen Allen Hamm, James “Trey” Hicks III (Carol Ann) and Ashton Hicks (Sarah); great grandchildren, Mason, Jackson and Emma Beth Vaught, Colin, Elle, Karson, Maeve and Margaret Hicks; Stella Mae, Zahir, Zaki, Miles, Maddox, Caladan and Palmer Sandlin; one sister-in-law, Beth Richey; one brother-in-law, Harold A. Miller; Several nieces and nephews.

The family will honor Martha’s wish to be cremated. There will be a private family memorial service at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.
