Margie Elizabeth Cowles Watt

Bowling Green, Kentucky

Margie Elizabeth Cowles Watt, 96 years old departed this earth on Saturday, January 20, 2024 surrounded by her family and dear friends. 

Margie was born on February 10th, 1927 in Boiling Springs, Kentucky, to the late James Hobert Cowles and Minnie Pennington Cowles.  She was the sixth child born into a family of eleven children in which eight of them have preceded her in death: Ambrose, Ralph, W.V., Murlene, Mildred, Nellie, Alice and Alvie.

Margie married the late James William (Jink) Watt March 14th, 1946 and had four children, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren from this 41year union.  She is preceded in death by two children, Naomi Ruth Casebeer and William Roger Watt, by one grandchild Amy Watt, and by one great grandchild, Mason Skaggs.

Margie dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and died a devoted Christian.  She was a lifelong member of the Boiling Springs Church of Christ.  She love her family unconditionally, she loved doing bible word search books and piecing together board puzzles.  She studied her bible daily.  

Margie truly lived life to the fullest, she touched many lives with her kindness and laughter.  Her laugh could fill a room.  She was known as Mamaw Margie to many and she never hesitate to talk about Gods word, her family and she especially loved talking about her great grandchildren. 

Margie leaves behind to cherish her loving memory two beloved children, Gloria Elaine Howard and Robert Dale Watt (Julie), two granddaughters, Penny Howard Duncan (Gene) and Sandra Howard Cowles (Chris), two great -grandchildren BJ Skaggs and Morgan Skaggs Wetherington (Bryan), two siblings, a sister Evelyn Watt and a brother Paul Cowles.  She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and many of those bonus grandchildren that through the years have called her MaMaw Margie.  She will be greatly missed by all.  

Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Otter Gap Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
