Lewis H. "Bunkie" Simpson

Lewis H. “Bunkie” Simpson, Jr., 78 of Bowling Green passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at the Hospice House surrounded by his family.

He was the son of the late L.H. Simpson, Sr and Margaret Martin Simpson. He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Maxey Bryson. Bunkie served in the U.S. Marine Corp. and was a member of White Stone Quarry Baptist Church. He was a maintenance electrician at Holley Automotive for 40 years and a farmer all of his life.

His survivors include his wife, Anita Grimes Simpson, his daughter Kellie Simpson; three sisters, Darlene Bryson, Carol Craviotto (Dan), and Marquetta Newson (Allen); a special childhood friend, Darrell Alford; several nieces, nephews and cousins; several special grandchildren from White Stone Quarry Church and his fur baby’s Tanner and Duke.

The funeral service will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Hardy & Son Funeral Home with burial at Mt Olivet Church Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m.-12 noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
