Joe Howard Shanks, 73 of Elizabethtown passed peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 30 at his residence.
He was a son of the late George B and Bessie L Holder Shanks. He was a retired US Army veteran of 21 years and a mason in the Goshen Masonic Lodge.
His survivors include two daughters, Lydia Shanks and Evelyn Shanks; two grandsons, Michael Widener-Bailey and Benjamin Widner; two great grandsons, Nikolai Widner and Auron Widener-Bailey; special friends, Beverly Floyd and Emilie Weeks Earl.
There will be a graveside memorial service at 11 a.m. October 23 at Fairview Cemetery #1. The family entrusted their loved one to Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.
