Janet Goad Hardin, born on April 26, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, peacefully passed away on April 13, 2025, in Brandenburg, Kentucky, at the age of 81. Janet lived a life enriched by family, faith, and community involvement. Her journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those around her.
Janet shared a remarkable 64-year marriage with her beloved husband, Bobby Lee Hardin, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, nurturing their children, Robert Aaron Hardin and Melissa Ann Baysinger, as well as grandchildren, Preston and Kate Hans, whom Janet cherished deeply. She was incredibly proud of her children’s achievements in IT and music, always celebrating their successes with great joy.
In the early years, Janet and Bobby moved to New York, where they worked for General Electric. She later dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mother and homemaker, providing a nurturing environment for her children. As her children grew, she pursued a career as a librarian and later as a hospital registration trainer. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning a certificate in New York to transcribe books into braille, a testament to her dedication to lifelong learning and helping others.
Janet's talents extended beyond her professional life. She was an exceptional cross-stitcher, creating beautiful, framed pieces that will be treasured by her family for years to come. Her love for animals was evident to all who knew her; she never missed an opportunity to converse with and pet every animal she encountered.
When her husband retired, they returned to Kentucky, where they found solace in their executive ranch hilltop home on seven acres, their cherished retreat. Janet and Bobby were active members of their community, especially during their time in New York as part of the Jaycees, and remained devoted members of the Mt. Zion Church of Christ in Richardsville, KY.
Janet is survived by her children, Robert Aaron Hardin (Pamela) and Melissa Ann Baysinger (Bryan), her brother Terry Goad (Judy), and her two grandchildren, Preston and Kate Hans, who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.
