Howard Dale Thompson, 73, of Three Forks passed away on September 29, 2024 surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. His family called him Howard, friends and co-workers called him Dale but his favorite people called him Popall. He loved his grandkids fiercely and spoiled them rotten. From silly dad jokes, playful pranks or any occasion to give them gifts he never missed a chance to put a smile on their faces. He retired from Lowes where he was the delivery manager and worked for 28 years. The people he worked with became like family and he kept in touch with them after retiring. His quick wit, generous nature, good looks and great hair made him a celebrity of his own right. Leving to cherish his memory is his mother, Anna Mae Thompson, his biggest fan, his daughter Kristina Thompson who thought he hung the moon; two step daughters Monica Updegraff (Greg) and Janice Shaw (Tim); seven grandchildren, Ethan Kole Bryant; Maycie Beth Sewell, Olivia Kate Sewell, Owen Conner Sewell, Shawndra Coleman, Tyler Shaw (Callie) and Madison Shaw; one brother, Rickey Thompson; four sisters, Audrey Thompson, Sue Keen (Mike), Joyce Gupton (Steve) and Diane Thompson Cox; several nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his dad, Odell Howard Thompson; his son, Shawn Thompson; three brothers, Gary, Jake and David Thompson. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. |
