Listen to Obituary

On September 22, 2025, Francis Collene Jordan, went home to be with her Heavenly Father after a brief illness. Honoring her wishes, she passed peacefully at home surrounded by love. She was born on May 13, 1932, in Louisville, Kentucky and throughout her life she exemplified faith, kindness, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her.

Collene was preceded in death by her loving parents, Carl and Edith Watt Jordan and siblings, Anise Laing, Kenneth Jordan and Morrell (Sam) Jordan, yet she carried forward the values they instilled—love for God, loyalty to family, and service to others. After many years of dedicated work with the Western Kentucky Gas Company, she retired and devoted even more of her time to the people and church she loved.

A faithful and longtime member of Berea Christian Church, Collene was actively involved in its ministries and fellowship. She also shared her gift of music as an enthusiastic member of the Singing Seniors for many years, bringing joy, encouragement, and inspiration through song. Her beautiful voice and warm smile uplifted everyone around her.

Although she was never a mother herself, Collene embraced the role of mother, aunt, confidante, and friend to her nieces (Linda Stewart, Peggy Thompson, Teresa Barrick, Judy Brooks, and Jennifer Bostic), nephews (Mike and Jeff Jordan), and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She treated each one as if they were her own, offering guidance, prayers, and unconditional love. Her home and heart were always open, and she delighted in family gatherings, birthdays, and quiet moments of conversation. Collene was also loved and supported by a special caregiver (Lida Flynn), who became a devoted friend and companion.

In her quieter hours, Collene loved creating beauty with her hands. She spent countless hours crafting exquisite cross-stitch quilts, each one stitched with patience, care, and love. These treasured pieces will continue to comfort and remind her family of her warmth and creativity.

Her life reflected the words of Matthew 22:39 – “Love your neighbor as yourself.” She lived this commandment daily through her generosity, encouragement, and unwavering kindness to all who crossed her path.

Collene's life was one of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep compassion. She had a way of making everyone feel special and valued. Her legacy will live on in the lives she shaped, the songs she sang, the quilts she made, and the countless acts of kindness she performed.

We will celebrate her life on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, Bowling Green, Kentucky, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Smiths Grove Cemetery, Smiths Grove, Kentucky following the service. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories of how she touched their lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Berea Christian Church or Hospice of Southern Kentucky whose care and compassion were a blessing to her and her loved ones.

While we will miss her presence here on earth, we rejoice knowing she has entered into eternal rest with her Savior. Her life of love and service will continue to inspire us all.
