Carlton Jimmy Floyd, born on June 28, 1937, age 87, heard those words he has so longed to hear on Sunday, September 8, 2024, “Well done thou good and faithful servant”, surrounded by family. He was affectionately known as Bro. Jim. Bro. Jim was born and raised in Arkansas and served in the Airborne Division of the United States Army. He moved to Bowling Green, KY in 1962 where he has resided ever since. In his early years, he made appearances on WBKO Channel 13 as a country western singer. He had a beautiful voice and could play any instrument he picked up. He worked in several professions in his 20s and 30s, but God called him to preach in 1972 and that was his passion for the past 50+ years, where he pastored Christian Fellowship Church until he retired in 2022. He LOVED Jesus with all of his heart and LOVED people! He was truly a servant of Christ and served God’s people as well. On any given day, you could find him on a roof, under a car, or mowing a yard for anyone who needed help. Bro. Jim truly was the hands and feet of Jesus. His favorite 3 words for the past 50+ years have been “Jesus Loves You”! Everyone he met, he ended the conversation with those 3 words. His whole purpose in this world was to tell people about the love of Christ with a word of encouragement and a scripture.
Bro. Jim is survived by his amazing wife, Carol Simpkins Floyd, who has also been his caregiver throughout his battle with Parkinson’s, as well as his 3 children, Bobby (Stacy) Floyd of Bowling Green, KY, Susan (Terry) Richardson of Greenwood, IN, and David Randall (Brook) Floyd of Red Boiling Springs, TN, 7 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 1 sister, DeLois Tittle of Arkansas, 1 brother, Kenneth Wayne (Bea) Floyd of South Dakota, several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noal and Effie Floyd, his brother, Jerry Floyd, his sister, Joyce Austin, his son-in-law, Kevin Dunlap, and granddaughter, Jessica Dunlap.
