Walter Clarence Hawkins

                          Walter C. Hawkins, 95, of Inman, S.C., formerly of Bowling Green,
                          died at 7:30   a.m. March 13, 2008, in Spartanburg, S.C.  

                          The Smiths Grove native was a  retired banker for American National
                          Bank, a member of First Baptist Church and the Independent Order
                          of Oddfellows. He was a son of the late John Hawkins and Henrietta
                          Allen Hawkins and husband of the late Retha Demunbrun Hawkins.
                          He was preceded in death by a brother, John William Hawkins.

                          Funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling
                          Green chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery No. 2. Visitation is
                          from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday
                          at the funeral home.  There will be an Oddfellows  ceremony at
                          5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

                          Survivors include a son, Alan Royce Hawkins and his wife, Jenean,
                          of Inman; a granddaughter, Crystal Tuffill and her husband, Travis,
                          of Spartanburg; a grandson, Matthew Hawkins of Inman; two
                          great-grandchildren, Bryan Tuffill and Christian Tuffill, both of
                          Spartanburg; and a nephew, Charles English of Bowling Green.
