Noble Stuart
Noble Gilbert Stuart, 89, died Nov. 6, 2007, after several
years of failing health, having kept his sharp mind until his
death. The Logan County native was born Feb. 12, 1918.
He had lived in Bowling Green since 1954 and was a
member of Stuart’s Chapel Methodist Church in Logan
County. He spent many years as a trained tool and die maker
at Holley Carburetor and was a machine shop teacher at
Bowling Green Vocational School. He spent his entire life
involved with music, having started singing cowboy/western
music with his sister and school friends as a young teenager.
He then started singing gospel music with friends and family
members before joining the Big Hope Quartet in the 1950s.
When his three daughters began showing an interest in
singing at early ages, he decided to leave the quartet and
focus on working with his children in their music. His greatest
pleasures in life were his family and southern gospel music.
He and his wife and three daughters traveled for more than
16 years performing in concerts as the Stuart Sisters Trio.
Their travels spanned seven states on a continuous basis.
Many quartets, both professional and from surrounding
states, sought the advice and solid wisdom of Noble Stuart.
Other interests included part-time farming and genealogy.
He was a proud, active member of the Logan County Masonic
Lodge. He was a son of the late Roy and Minnie Stuart and
the husband of the late Ima Mae Stuart. He was preceded in
death by a daughter, Lana Stuart Miller; a sister, Velma
Stuart Hall; a brother, Willard Stuart; a granddaughter; and
two great-grandchildren.
Funeral is at 2 p.m. Monday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home,
Bowling Green chapel, with burial and a brief graveside
service Tuesday in Logan County. Visitation is from 2 p.m.
to 7 p.m. Sunday and begins at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral
home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of
contributions to Feed the Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma

and her husband, Duane, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a son-
in-law, Maurice Miller of Bowling Green; five grandchildren,
