Betty Jo Shirley
  
                   Betty Jo Shirley of Bowling Green died Oct. 4, 2007,
                   of sudden coronary arrest. The Oakland native
                   graduated from North Warren High School at the
                   age of 15. Over the course of her life as an Air Force
                   wife, she traveled extensively and lived all over the
                   world. In 1977, Guy and Betty Shirley retired in
                   Bowling Green. She served as president of the
                   Kentucky Federated Women’s Club from 2002 to
                   2003 and volunteered for, organized and headed
                   many service groups over the course of her adult life.
                   She was a woman with great gifts, intelligence, style,
                   talent, generosity and loyalty. She was a daughter of
                   the late Pat and Zula Steenbergen.

                   Memorial service is at 11 a.m. Monday at Hardy & Son
                   Funeral Home, Bowling Green chapel. Burial is private.
                   Visitation is from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the
                   funeral home.

                   Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Guy Shirley;
                   a daughter, Aleda Shirley and her husband, Michael
                   McBride, of Jackson, Miss.; two sisters, Hazel Edwards
                   of Louisville and Sue Steenbergen of Bowling Green;
                   dear friends, Neva Richards and Jolene Rush; and
                   several nieces and nephews.
